The Women of ISOA restore a TR3
Part 1

gcp.jpg - 17kBKathy Pawlak, Kathy Felix, Sandy Hurst, Karen Rust and Barb Billimack joined me on Jan 18, 2003 for the first Girlie Restoration session. Under the direction of Whizmo Pyle, we sanded the doors, cleaned and sanded them some more, and then attempted to use body filler….. three times. There's a boomer in here somewhere but you'll have to come to the next general meeting to hear about it. Let's suffice it to say that the nomination will not go to one of the Girlies!

We also sanded the body tub. Kathy "Sander" Felix is a natural with an electric sander. We painted the interior floor panels, trunk and wheel wells with POR-15, a rust inhibitor. (Something you should all be familiar with). Using nitrile gloves, dust masks, hair nets and aprons, we managed to keep the POR-15 and Bondo where they belonged instead of on us…except for "Sander" Felix. With the aid of some carbuerator cleaner, she was able to get the majority of POR-15 off of her face and arms. We broke for a lunch of sub sandwiches and then went back out to try working with the Bondo one final time.

We six women all felt that we accomplished quite a lot in a short period of time and are all looking forward to the next session, which is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2003. I've decided to have a maximum of 5 Girlies for each session. That allows everyone a chance at doing the different procedures with a minimal amount of "down" time and without stepping on each other. Call first to (630) 773-4806 to be assured of a spot. If a Girlie is interested in working on a on-scheduled weekend, call me to see if I'm working on the car. For further progress, see Part 2.
