Automotive Info and Maintenance Sites

  • One of the best Triumph technical pages I've seen to date is the TR6 Reference page (MS Word format) on the Cape Cod British Car Club Technical page, compiled by Jay Welch of Abingdon, MA. While it's primarily written for TR6s, this page contains a lot of valuable information and links that I've not seen anywhere else.
  • Visit the Buckeye Triumphs Triumph technical page. While it has been scaled down recently, there are still a number of useful articles there.
  • The Cool Cat Corp. site is primarily for Jaguar E-Types, but it has a very good section on theory, diagnosis and repair of early (11AC) Lucas Alternators
  • Visit the Autoshop for a wide variety of information on how your car works, usually in terms for the layman. They can also help diagnose your problems (for a fee) if you can't figure them out yourself. This site also has a lot of maintenance tips to help keep all of your cars in tip-top shape.
  • Check out the Autosite. In addition to their fee-based service for determining new vehicle prices, options, etc., they have a free section with an extensive garage menu of maintenance and troubleshooting tips, along with an encyclopedia section on how to do a lot of the work on your car (beyond the basics)...
  • Having problems with fuel injection? Here's a link to a page on EFI problem diagnosis which may be useful. The TR8 uses a variant of the Bosch L-Jetronic system. A second site has a diagnosis section with a manual (in scanned .gif form) for the L-Jetronic with Lambda system.
  • Brother Bob's Auto Repair page. This is just a small subsection of Brother Bob's Fixit Shop
  • The Auto Channel
  • Take a look at the Engine Oil Filter Study for an inside look at the oil filters available on the market.

Vendor Sites

Please remember that the presence of a link to a vendor on the ISOA Links Page does not constitute an endorsement of that vendor by ISOA or any of its officers. These links are placed here only as a convenience to our members.

When placing orders to UK vendors, remember that when parcels sent from the UK are delivered to US addresses by UPS, you'll get an invoice in the mail (a few days after the delivery) for a US Customs duty charge of approximately 3% of the invoice amount, plus a $5.00 "brokerage fee ". Placing a large order on a single invoice instead of several small orders on separate invoices will reduce the impact of the brokerage fee...

Other sites

  • Find a complete list of Danger Zones at the Speed Trap Exchange
  • If you blew through one of the speedtraps above, visit the National Motorists Association for lots of hints on how to fight the ticket you just got.
  • Illinois Department of Transportation has several interesting pages, with links to Chicagoland expressway speeds & travel times (updated every minute), Interstate highway construction listings, winter road conditions, and more.
  • Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee Transportation Corridor Traveler Information System - provides expressway and tollway congestion reports, maps, and more. It's strange how the highest traffic speed ever shown on their pages is 55mph, even in areas where the actual traffic speeds consistently exceed this or where the speed limit is 65...
  • The Illinois Tollway has a complete web site with news releases and full information on construction zones.
  • Roadside America - your travel guide for offbeat vacation fun - obviously an ISOA kind of place!
  • Road Geeks (you know who you are) - visit The Illinois Highways page for everything you ever wanted to know about Illinois highways.
  • Mack's Golden Pheasant - our meeting site!
  • Received any email lately that seems too good to be true? Of course, you do want to pass the word around to all of your friends and colleagues, but you really don't want to get the reputation of being a spammer, right? Save your reputation by first checking the Symantec Antivirus Research Center, VMyths/Chain-Letter, or Snopes Urban Legend sites to see if it's really a myth before passing it on to others!
  • Jim Martindale's Reference Desk: Calculators On-Line page has over 22000 links to on-line "calculators". You'll be amazed at what you'll see. Link updated September 16, 2006
  • Dinky Toy Club of America
